Wimbledon 2009 - Final thoughts

Wimbledon is behind us, and final was the showdown between two Williams sisters. This is something that has become boring to many tennis fans. Elena Dementieva was close to reaching the final but power prove to be deciding factor that allowed Serena Williams final match, and eventual championship victory. Many tennis hotties were rather disappointing at this year's Wimbledon, Serbian girls Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic are struggling whole year to find the top form, and by the looks of it the same can be said about Russian girls Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirlenko.

The girl that impressed me is Sabine Lisicki. This young german tennis hotties is showing impressive form lately, and if she continues her constant improvement she'll soon become dominant force in woman's tennis. Gisela Dulko also enjoyed deserved spotlight after beating Sharapova but failed to produce this form in latter stages. Sharapova definitely still doesn't look as fit as before the injury and it will take some time before we see fully fit Siberian queen.

Serena Williams - Wimbledon champion

What to say about Williams sisters? They have proved (like in many cases before this year's Wimbledon) that there are no other girls that can match power of their shots, and power is something that ranks very highly at Wimbledon. Even Elena Dementieva at her best wasn't enough to stop Serena Williams but credit to Elena for taking the match down the wire. In any case it was once again lovely tournament where mix of beauty and talent showed once again why we love this sport so much.
