Anna Chakvetadze started playing tennis when she was 8 years old as her mother Natalia introduced her to this sport. She was very successful in her junior days as in 2003 she reached junior finals in Wimbledon. She won her first pro tournament in 2006 in China.
Anna Chakvetadze is currently among top ten players in the world (January 2008) but to improve on her ranking won't be easy considering girls above her that still look to be too strong for Anna.
However Anna Chakvetadze is still young and there's plenty of years in front of her but she'll have to put much more strength and precision in her shots if she plans to go all the way.
Anna Chakvetadze likes to read (especially detective novels), likes to listen all kind of music and her favorite movie is Troy. Besides tennis she also likes soccer and consider herself ambitious.
In December 2007 her home was burgled as burgles beat her father and took away over $300,000 worth of goods and cash.
Anna Chakvetadze is yet to show if she has enough to go all the way in the rankings, as in this moment she still lacks that finesse that separates best from the rest.
And here's also one very nice Anna Chakvetadze video.
