Australian Open 2009 - Final thoughts

So what really happened at Australian Open 2009? Serena Williams showed that while in form she is way to much for competition to handle. I mean Dinara Safina never really got into match, and it was all over in no time. Russian girls have showed that they are in top of women's game with the likes like Safina and Dementieva. Serbian girls, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic were big disappointments, especially Ana Ivanovic who since winning last year French Open failt to show even glimpse of form that not so long ago made her World No.1. Jelena Jankovic, synonym for consistency isn't also in her best form, and Serbian girls will need to improve in days to come.

Serena Williams at her very best is simply too much for competition

The most pleasant surprise is definitely Jelena Dokic. After all problems she had offcourt her result is really close to a miracle, and it would be really nice to see her continue with good results. She definitely deserves it after all that happened to her. Among young tennis hopes Dominika Cibulkova, and Caroline Wozniacki showed soime glimpses of their talent but failed to produce it big time. In any case it will be very interesting to see the other three Grand Slams later this year.
