2009 WTA season reaching its conclusion

As the time goes by, another tennis season its reaching its conclusion. And despite the outcome of Doha tournament, the world NO.1 at the end of the year will be Serena Williams, after Dinara Safina pulled out because of the back injury. This year was disappointing to some tennis players, most notably Ana Ivanovic who wasn't able to show nothing on that talent that made her world No.1 less than two years ago. On the other hand Caroline Wozniacki has finally proved that she has the potential to become world No.1 in year ahead, and some other young tennis guns like Sabine Lisicki, Sorana Cirstea, and Yanine Wickmayer look more and more like the upcoming tennis forces that should break in top ten in the next few years.

Maria Sharapova is also there, showing glimpses of her old form that made her world No.1, and if she remains healthy throughout the next year she could even return to tennis throne. Jelena Jankovic, Mrs. Consistency of 2008 wasn't consistent in 2009, and she definitely has to show more if she wants to climb through the rankings. Williams sisters will be yet again favorites for Grand Slams, and Serena will also want to keep her No.1 ranking. It will be interesting to see whether Ana Ivanovic will return to her best in 2010 or will her downfall continue. 2009 is almost over but there is 2010 we can look forward too.

Will Ana Ivanovic regain her old form in 2010?
