Three countries dominating women's tennis

Have you lately seen top 10 ranking in women's tennis? If you haven't let me refresh your mind? You got two girls from Serbia, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, sisters Serena and Venus from USA and the rest of the pack are all Russians: Svetlana Kuznetsova, Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva, Dinara Safina, and Anna Chakvetadze. These three nations (especially Russia) are dominating world's tennis circuits, while other countries (apparently) lack adequate tennis force to challenge them.

What is the reason for this situation? It is not like quality tennis schools are only in these countries, tennis is played in many other countries, and if we take a look at the men's ranking two dominant players are from Spain (Nadal), and Switzerland (Federer), so there has to be some other reason for this situation. But what reason is this? Beats the heck out of me. Russia and USA are traditional tennis countries, while Serbia is currently having best time in its history due to extremely talented young players that have appeared from almost nowhere.

Is there any country ready to sent out a worthy challenger, capable to break the dominance of these three countries? My pick for future would definitely be Caroline Wozniacki because she's finally started showing her amazing talent for tennis game. Slovakian girls Hantuchova and Cibulkova, Szavay from Hungary, perhaps Radwanska from Poland, and Penetta from Italy also have what it takes to break into top ten and end this domination. But is not only the question of getting there, what really counts is staying there and fight for that priceless top spot. Who can get there? Tell us your opinion.

  1. Serbian tennis girls rule. Ana and Jelena will destroy competition from other countries. Caroline Wozniacki still has a lot to prove, and the Russian girls are slowly passing their prime time.
